Unintentional/Unanticipated Inconveniences

While on tour there are many unintentional and or unanticipated coincidences that may happen, please be aware we will do the best we can to alleviate any of “unintentional/unanticipated inconveniences”. Of these we will list some of these:

Weather/Climate: As we all know the weather may change without notice. Lightning, sandstorms, fog, rain, etc. Once we initiate a tour there may be NO REFUNDS, a discount may be considered. Once the tour vehicle departs for a tour this policy comes into effect.

Vehicle breakdowns: Engine trouble, flat tires, etc., we will put your party on another vehicle passing by whether our company or another tour company completing the same tour. Our tour guide may accompany you through the rest of the tour, leaving the broken vehicle behind to be towed back to our company headquarters later.

Stuck vehicle: 4×4 vehicles do get stuck in Monument Valley, due to very sandy or muddy road conditions. Since many vehicles use the same trail or dirt roads, the condition of the road may become unknown to the guide and the vehicle may become stuck. In this case the guide will do his or her best to get the vehicle out from being stuck, or catch a ride on another vehicle whether our vehicle or not. Your guide will accompany you through the rest of the tour tour, leaving the stuck vehicle for our mechanics or staff to retrieve it later.

Persons; Injured, health problem, etc: In some instances we have had persons that did not follow our guide’s instructions; they might become injured by climbing and falling off rocks, walking away from the tour into unpredictable terrain, or have tormented a wild animal and got kicked, bitten, pierced or scratched. Some have had health problems; heart complications, breathing complications, heat stroke, etc. In these circumstances we will cancel the remaining tour and go directly back to the Monument Valley Tribal Park visitor center, in severe cases medical help will be called, any medical services may be at your expense.

Tour refunds will NOT be given for any of these instances, ANY kind medical services; first aid, ambulatory, medical flights will be at your expense.

After Office Hour Bookings

Our Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday unless a change is implemented for holidays or winter season. If you book after these hour please call our office the next day to confirm your reservation has been received by our tour coordinator. Not calling may result in a late tour or cancelled tour.

Tour Duration – Length & Time Approximation

The Sunrise Tour, Short Tour, Complete Tour, and Sunset Tour times are set by tour routes. Tour times are, “approximate”. Factors may include; participation, tour route congestion, inclement weather, park road re-routes & activities, road conditions etc. Our tours are conducted by routes identified and permitted for use by the Monument Valley Park

Participation: The party on tour may request to skip a stop or not exit the vehicle at all, this often shortens the tour time. The tour route taken for the tour is what we will charge for, the time duration of the tour will then not be taken into account.

Inclement weather: Weather in Monument Valley and the surrounding area may be unpredictable. Rain, hail, wind, or snow may affect road conditions, this may slow the tour and lengthen the tour time. Rain sometimes affects tour routes, and alternative routes may be used by our guides.

Tour Route Congestion: The route may become congested, this may lengthen the tour time. We will not deviate from the reserved tour route during the peak season.

Road Conditions: The weather; rain, snow, extreme dry conditions may affect the condition of the dirt road routes in Monument Valley, slippery, or sandy conditions may become present. Please note and be ready for unpredictable road conditions as they may arise, the vehicle may become “stuck” at anytime. If a “stuck” condition occurs, our guide will join you on another vehicle on the same route, or call our maintenance staff for help.

Park Re-routes and Activities: From time to time the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park performs activities for the community or for the Navajo Nation government, this sometimes affects tour times. If the tour is re-routed, our Sandstone Tours guides may have to use alternative routes to make up for deviations not usually used in our daily tour listings.
